sunny april morn

it's was such a beautiful spring morning that M couldn't resist letting me have my "gloomstopper" treat ball outside. my knee is getting better and better every day, i even got to help escort the garbage bucket to the curb...oh yes, the chores are coming back.
then, while M was cleaning house i gathered all my "indoor" buds and had a small party on the patio-- M was surprised to find us out there.. with a laugh she grabbed the camera and we had a group photo.

dia kitty- bunny hunter 1982
i do have to say i am having a very difficult time not being bored....to the brink of insanity... i have even been associating with my sis, Tiera, "the cat."
she told me about a cat that M & S had a long time ago that was an avid "bunny hunter" and would catch small rabbits and bring them into the backyard for the dogs to play with and chase...what a great cat!! a true living "bunny hunter".  i would have loved to meet her. when i asked M about her, she showed me a picture, her name was Euripidia, after Euripides, a philosopher M liked, but they called her "Dia Kitty."

wow~a bunny hunting kitty, my kind of cat!

bunny stops by for an easter visit

 happy easter everyone...

M and i usually don't go in for anthropomorphizing, but the bunnies stopped by this morning to wish us a happy easter and bring us some special eggs... i had to put on the ears...it is kind of like a flag of truce, bunnies feel safe when i am wearing "the ears."

Bunny told me all about their night hiding the eggs and baskets for the kids in the neighborhood; he added some special secrets...that only the bunnies and i know.

"please M can't i go play with the bunnies..... my knee feels so much better........"

green paws for Earth Day

hi there my friends, i have been doing great. i'm actually getting some hair growing back on my leg, yeah!

Earth Day is coming up on friday, march 22nd. and yes, we dogs can be conscious of our 'green paw prints' too. here are some great ideas to tell your pack leaders about from the Canines for Earth Day:

6 things you can do to celebrate Earth Day, every day

1. Cut down on waste that takes space and switch to biodegradable poop bags. The bags decompose in about the same amount of time as an apple.

2. Overpopulation, and consequently euthanization, is the #1 killer of dogs in this country. Visit your local shelter and adopt, or volunteer with a rescue group to help as many dogs in need find great forever homes.
***don’t buy from Pet Stores or Puppy Mill Breeders!!!***

3. Old blankets and sheets may seem like junk to you, but to the dogs at your local shelter, they are beds and comfort. Instead of trashing your old linens and towels, donate them to your local shelter.

4. Old socks with missing pairs? Make a dog toy out of it! Recycling household products and making dog toys is a great way to re-use, rather than consume. Plus, dog toys sold at pet stores can be expensive and wasteful of our planet’s resources.

5. Instead of driving to the dog park, how about rollerblading, biking or just walking instead? It’s more exercise and time for you and your dog to spend together, and it’s not using fossil fuels or spewing greenhouse gases into the air.

6. Check your household cleaning products and make sure you’re using ones that are chemical-free and therefore, not contributing to harmful runoff into our ground and water sources.

later, M told me that our hourse breeder friends in colorado had another new arrival... that is good news.
(if you missed the other colts and filly, check out the post on March 21st.)

just hang'n around heal'n

i am so bored, just been hang'n around heal'n this knee. M let me out of the tinsey room i have been incarcerated in and let me sleep in my favorite spot on the marble... for a little while anyway. i dream of bunnies, long hikes, and road trips to the plark to see my buds. it feels like it has already been years. the worst part was when M came home with the groceries, i knew she had them, even though both M and S tried to hide bringing them in, but i knew, and had to just lay there and watch them do...my...job.

but wait... what's this M found on the porch this morn'n... it's from the bunnies again. least they remember me.

feeling a little blu

"geeeze... M, i'm in enough pain, do ya gotta take pictures too? oh, well, if you must, go ahead and let me put it on BernerTails". notice that i am so sad than i really am blue... M assures me it is because i have black fur. (please don't show this to the bunnies, it will be like that travelers commercial where they laugh at the rattl'r with the baby rattle tail.)

hi everyone, had my surgery yesterday. knew something was up when wednesday night M pulled up all my food and treats. then, no food thursday morning, and when i thought we were going for a "road trip", we pulled up at anaheim canyon animal hospital. bummer!!!
even Tiffiany's bright smile didn't cheer me up.

all went well with the TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement) surgery. i had a rough night last night, M stayed up with me all night long to make sure i was okay and had some pain pills when i needed them. feeling a little better this morning. had to pee like an elephant though...ha!  gotta get back to sleeping so i can heal real fast and get back to the real life of a berner.

thank you newman & K for your "get well wishes", looking forward to seeing you soon.

taking a LOA-

injured, not just my pride, but my knee as well. i had been limping a little after our bunnie hunts. M took me down to see Dr So, where he gave me a "mickie" that knocked me out cold. then, he took xrays of my hips and knees. and... they found that i  have injured my knee. a couple of years ago i tore my cruciate ligament in my right knee (i think i mentioned it last post) and it has taken its toll on my good knee. Which M says is common that after one knee needs to be repaired the other weakens and has to be fixed as well. So, here i am, getting ready to have surgery this week and will be out of commission for a while. M assured me that the bunnies have all sent wishes of a quick recovery. bunnies are such great little creatures. oh well, i had planned on leaving them alone to do their easter egg hides for the neighborhood basket hunters on easter.

As far as getting the mail, carrying in the groceries, their lunch bags…
M and S will just have to get along without me for a few weeks.
