talking longer walks & finding a pet charity

good day to everyone. life is getting back to normal...slightly. M took me on one of our standard walks, the "CottonTail" loop. i'm still on my leash, but we got to see a couple of bunnies hopping around. i left them be, there is always tomorrow. ha! as we were walking a neighbor asked M what kind of charity would she recommend, their daughter has a summer project for school and she loves animals. Here is what M had to say, thought you might be interested too.

Not sure which charity is right for you? Try going online. Websites like http://www.charitynavigator.org/  can help you evaluate charities and make an informed decision.
Don’t know where to find local pet charities? Ask friends and colleagues for recommendations. Also, consult your local chamber of commerce. They should be able to provide you with a list of local pet shelters or other pet-related volunteer opportunities.
 Donate supplies
Call your area pet shelter or organization to find out what items they need most. Basic items such as dog and cat food, cat litter, blankets or pet beds and toys are usually in high demand. Also consider non-obvious items such as laundry detergent, brooms and garbage bags that kennel staff can use daily. Many PetCo stores accept old blankets, towels, and pillows for your local rescue organizations. “Blankets for Buddies,”  is my favorite.
Donate time
Sometimes, what many local pet shelters and organizations need most are volunteers. Consider donating your time to help bathe dogs or clean their kennels, change cat litter boxes, wash blankets or simply play with the animals.
Do your research
It’s important to thoroughly research any organization you donate your time or money to, and examine how they use your funds to support their cause. There are lots of great organizations out there, so kudos to you for wanting to do more!

puppy pictures of the past

life has been about the same. i have been spending a lot of time in the back yard, doing some bunnie watching for M. she says they are out there, but i haven't seen any yet. i think she may be pulling a fast one on me, just to keep me from getting bored. we did pull out some pictures of me as a pup....how funny i looked in my teens, but as a pup i was adorable, of course. here are some we chose to put on the blog. be patient everyone, i am over half way through my knee confinement, then we'll get back to some real good stories.

waiting for M to go for a training "W" - i can't believe i was that little-ha! 11 lbs.
here i am in my nightime den, my special place that was my very own.

boy did I love to chew then....and i still do, now the bones are real
the "teenage" stage...eeegads
as soon a M realized i was cut out to be the neighborhood bunny hunter
she got me this practice bunny. it still is my favorite toy, i even take it when we go to colorado.

stormy weather in california, snow in colorado--oh my!

i am not complaining about the weather, we need the moisture and since i am still incapacitated.... guess now is the best time to have it stormy. i did sneak up the stairs and woke M with a big kiss, i could see she wasn't real happy i got past the barrier and climbed the stairs, but she let me have a sniff around and check my upstairs chews and toys before carefully heading me down the stairs. i keep telling them i'm okay now, but M says no.

also, got an email from the CO-cuties... it SNOWED last wednesday, can you believe that! they had their Pack Leader - E, take some more pictures. i am so envious, but i will be out there soon...liv'n  the life.

**sigh** - yes, still on the mend, but gett'n better each day. M took me out for a really short "W" this morn, i had her use my leash...just in case a moment of "bunny fever" hit me and i dashed off before think'n. it was nice to get a sniff of the "doggie news", left my "howdy-dos" in a few places too.

here's a post card from the colorado pups (the ones from england)- wish i was there with them.
jesse, the snow has melted, ponds are cold and lots of fun.
skye is teaching us how to retrieve. the bunnies are out of their winter dens and we’re waiting for you to teach us the...."chase'n'bush"  bunny maneuver, so get that knee healed~  see you this summer.
